Book Fair! 📚📖 Shout out

A big shout out to all the parents and students that came to the book fair in November! We were able to raise $1300 to add books to the library! Some of the new books are already in circulation.

We will have a representative from the Green Valley Ranch branch of the Denver Public Library set up a table during the Winter Performance on Thursday Dec. 11th. She will be there from 4:30-6:00 handing out free books and information about the Denver Public Library.

Students will be bringing home a Read-at-home Challenge page the Friday before Winter Break. Students can earn a prize by completing at least 6 of the challenges and returning the paper with a parent signature! (Reading at least 20 minutes a day is one of the best ways to increase literacy.)

Thank you for remembering to return your library books every week!

So much is happening in the Library this year!

Our students are actively checking out books and getting support aligned with English Language Arts standards. We invite all students to share their thoughts by completing book reviews—these will be proudly displayed right here in the library!

Remember, books should be returned or renewed each week to keep the collection fresh and accessible for everyone. Our students have been learning how to find books using the Dewey Decimal System and how to look up titles through Destiny Discover.

We also encourage students to suggest new books they’d love to see in our library collection. Your ideas help make our library even better!

Parents are encouraged to visit the library after school on Thursdays from 3pm-4pm! Come in and see what we have and maybe check out an extra book to read at home.

Happy reading and reviewing! 📖✨

The library is open every Thursday from 3:00-4:00 for families to come read and/or check out books to take home and enjoy.

DPS LION

Check out LION to see the books available at Marrama Elementary as well as FREE online databases available for student use. Each year we hold several book fairs that allow us to purchase additional books for the library. In 2012/13 we raised over $4,500 for books purchased through Scholastic Books. Each week over 619 students check out books in our library. It takes thousands of books to offer our students books that meet their interests and needs. This year we will be changing our approach for fundraising to maximize what we can buy with the monies raised. We will hold fundraisers for the library. We will use the bookfair monies to purchase books for the classrooms.Thank you for your support and be sure to visit our book fairs this year.
