Visiting a school is a privilege, not a right.

Dear Marrama Parents and Guardians,

All visitors, including DPS employees who are visiting a school where they are not assigned, must be checked in by the Raptor Visitor Management System. You must always bring an ID for us to scan into the system, or we cannot let you go beyond the front office.

Per Board of Education Policy KI, the district limits visitors to:

  • Parents/guardians of current students.
  • Other family members of current students who are approved by the student’s parent/guardian.
  • Board members.
  • Other persons — including but not limited to school founders, fundraisers, alumni, former employees, volunteers, and community members who do not have other active roles in the administration or governance of the school — who are invited by the principal, the superintendent or her/his designee or a board member for educational or official business purposes.

Visiting a school is a privilege, not a right, which may be limited, denied, or revoked by a school administrator or designee based on considerations of student and/or staff safety and health, efficient school operations, maintenance of a proper educational environment, or failure to comply with this policy.

Examples of individuals or groups who should be screened and/or not allowed entry into any school building include:

  • Anyone without a valid, school-related reason for entry.
  • Individuals carrying weapons.
  • Process servers (individuals serving a summons, complaint, or petition).
  • Loiterers (prohibited per C.R.S. 18-9-112).

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, or call us at 720-424-5820. Thank you.
