This has been such a fun week! We got to meet all of our new students and their families and we are ready for a great year! We decided to start it off right by exploring the books in our classroom! Here are some of our students “reading” and loving it!

The Fifth Grade team at Marrama is excited to welcome this year’s senior students in our elementary school. We hope your summer was restful and happy. All of us are excited to begin another school year full of learning and growth, in order to prepare you for success in middle school and beyond.
Because fifth grade is the last grade before middle school, it is important that students really solidify all of the concepts they need before the more challenging classes in secondary education. That requires a lot of hard work and dedication on behalf of students and parents.
Remember that an easy way to keep in touch with your student’s teacher is to use ClassDojo. That will allow you to monitor your child’s behavior and to send quick messages to the teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Remember: ClassDojo has nothing to do with grades, it is a behavior system alone. Grades will be addressed separately.
Here are a few quick reminders about what we as a Grade Level Team at Marrama expect:
Students need to be at school on time, well rested, and ready to learn. Breakfast starts at 7:45 and ends at 8:15. The school day begins promptly at 8:00 and the tardy bell rings at 8:10. We start the day with important content right off the bat, so students need to be here promptly.
Students are expected to read every night at home. Reading high-quality books that they enjoy will help to foster a love of reading, which will ensure success in middle school and high school.
Homework will be addressed by each individual teacher.
End of school day procedures have changed this year. There will be no playing allowed on the playground after school. Teachers will work to ensure that the playground empties quickly. You are welcome to come back and play after 4:00 or on the weekend. Students need to be picked up by 3:15. Parents who show up later than that will need to fill out a late pick-up slip. Remember that teachers need time after school to prepare for the next day. Please be prompt in picking up your students.
We are going to have a great year focusing on community, peace, and kindness as a school. We hope to help to develop our students into conscientious and caring individuals.
Remember that 5th grade is the year for Balarat, so be on the lookout for information about the over-night experience that students always love.
Communicate with your child’s teacher about any concerns or worries you might have. We are here to help!
September 15, 2017 Hello Parents,
Our second grade scholars are adjusting to school life beautifully. We are thrilled to be teaching your children. Second grade is a time of blossoming independence and great achievements. Please continue to support your young learners in their educational endeavors. They will not only soar academically but get themselves ready for third grade. What you think is IMPORTANT, your child will THINK is IMPORTANT!
Second Grade Teachers, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Perez & Ms. Lewan
We have had a busy semester so far. Our students have been working on learning double digit numbers and learning new sight words. We just finished learning about animal habitats to prepare us for our trip to the Zoo on Monday November 3rd. We are also excited to see all of our parents on Tuesday October 31st for our fun Halloween party at 12:30, and on Friday November 17th at 11:00 for our annual Thanksgiving Family Luncheon! We can’t wait to see you so you can even stop by for a visit before then to see the new sensory equipment that we have put up in our room!

Welcome to a new school year. I am so excited to see all of my students and see how they have all grown. In room 102 this year, we are going to continue to learn our ABC’s, sight words and numbers. My students learned many new skills last year including answering comprehension questions, counting by 2’s and adding and subtracting. I know we will get even smarter this year while we learn to be good friends and have fun.
Welcome 1st Grade Families! As your new first grade teacher, I want you to remember to READ READ READ every night. We will have a fantastic year!

We want to welcome you and your child to our First Grade Team. This is a very important year for your child. It will be filled with many transitions, milestones, and expectations that are new. It takes time and patience for all of the adjustments that your child will make. We ask that you be patient, understanding, and supportive during this time. Your child will be experiencing an extensive curriculum. First Grade has more reading levels to master than any other grade. It is a challenging year for all of us!
We want to remind you that school begins at 8:00 a.m. (first bell) and that students will be considered late after 8:10 a.m. (second bell). Students should not arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. in their classroom. First Grade Lunch/Recess is from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Our dismissal bell rings at 3:00 p.m. and all students will come to the playground to be picked up. All students MUST be picked up by 3:10.
Friday Folders will go home with your child every Friday. They will include important notices, Homework, and a weekly Behavior Report. Please sign the weekly Behavior Report and have your child return their Friday Folder and their Homework by the next Thursday.
Our birthday policy is that you may send in a small treat on your child’s birthday. The birthday treat will be served during lunch time only. The treats can be dropped off before school, after school, or you may come during the designated 1st grade lunch time 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please be sure to have enough for the entire class and be aware that they will be distributed during lunchtime only. No birthday celebration during instructional time will be allowed. No birthday invitations will be handed out in school unless every child receives one.
As always, we welcome your questions or concerns. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 720-424-5820, write us a note, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
