1st Grade News

We had so much fun on our field trop to the Children’s Museum! We were able to learn so much about energy, assembly lines, nature, water and more! Every student in 1st grade will be taking home a coupon to get a FREE membership for a year! All you have to do is read the paper and follow the directions before May! We were only given one for each student so if it is lost we won’t be able to give you another one! Please take advantage of this opportunity! Parking is also FREE!

Welcome Back!

First Grade
Marrama Elementary School

Dear Parents,

We want to welcome you and your child to our First Grade Team. This is a very important year for your child. It will be filled with many transitions, milestones, and expectations that are new. It takes time and patience for all of the adjustments that your child will make. We ask that you be patient, understanding, and supportive during this time. Your child will be experiencing an extensive curriculum. First Grade has more reading levels to master than any other grade. It is a challenging year for all of us!

We want to remind you that school begins at 8:00 a.m. (first bell) and that students will be considered late after 8:10 a.m. (second bell). Students should not arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. in their classroom. First Grade Lunch/Recess is from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Our dismissal bell rings at 3:00 p.m. and all students will come to the playground to be picked up. All students MUST be picked up by 3:10.

Friday Folders will go home with your child every Friday. They will include important notices, Homework, and a weekly Behavior Report. Please sign the weekly Behavior Report and have your child return their Friday Folder and their Homework by the next Thursday.

Our birthday policy is that you may send in a small treat on your child’s birthday. The birthday treat will be served during lunch time only. The treats can be dropped off before school, after school, or you may come during the designated 1st grade lunch time 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Please be sure to have enough for the entire class and be aware that they will be distributed during lunchtime only. No birthday celebration during instructional time will be allowed. No birthday invitations will be handed out in school unless every child receives one.

As always, we welcome your questions or concerns. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 720-424-5820, write us a note, or email us at danielle_dexter@dpsk12.org, alexandra_molleck@dpsk12.org or rosa-sara_rodriguez@dpsk12.org.
